What is the movie about? (SkaterGirl Inspiring Indian Daughters)

If you are a movie-goer and haven’t watched the Skater Girl in 2021, it is high time to spend some moments with the beautiful story that is sure to inspire you in different aspects of life. Skater Girl is a Heart-felt inspiring sports-oriented Film directed by Manjari Makijany who is known for movies like The Last Marble and The Corner Table. The film is shot entirely in India and during the shoot, a real skateboarding stadium was built for the local kids to play and practice skateboarding.

The movie takes place in Rajasthan and tells us about the story of Jessica, a good-hearted British woman who visits India in memory of her late Indian grandfather. During her stay, she meets Prerna, a teenage girl from the village with whom Jessica builds a special bond. Jessica felt the need to help the children of the village find their passion. She even helped Prerna to buy school uniforms, books and inspired the village kids to do something new. 

The story focuses mainly on Prerna, Jessica, and their shared journey together. During the stay, Jessica educated the village kids with videos and fun activities. In an incident, when a skater friend named Jonathan visits Jessica from Los Angeles, the kids get introduced to the sake board and Prerna instantly fell in love with the game.

Being a girl with an odd passion, that too from an Indian Village, Prerna had to struggle hard with her newfound interest. Her love for skating came with a price, but with all the odds and evens Prerna finally succeeds to face her fears and win the heart of her father who never supported her before. The story shows us how a person can challenge every obstacle in their way and chase passion.

Why watch the movie?

First of all, the movie is not a Bollywood flick. It is a children’s film that addresses social issues driven by heart-touching drama. All the young actors did a great job in the movie. Some of the funny scenes are pure kid’s gimmicks and are based on real-life scenarios. Prerna (Rachel Saanchita Gupta) takes the stage with an outstanding performance featuring in the movie as the central character. The movie has a 4.6 rating on Netflix and has received an 88% positive rating in Rotten Tomato and 85% of viewers liked the movie.

If you want to spend an evening with your kids and impart values and inspire them at the same time, do watch it and have a good time. The movie is rated 7+ and all the age groups can enjoy the movie without a doubt.
