250 tonnes coal bound for Bangladesh seized in Assam

On Tuesday, Assam police confiscated around 250 tonnes of coal bound being shipped from Meghalaya to Bangladesh. In violation of official procedures, police said.

According to police, four persons were detained, including three exporters, for exporting coal through the Sutarkandi land. Customs station in Assam’s Karimganj district.

According to Karimganj Superintendent of Police Mayank Kumar Jha, the exporters lacked sufficient government documentation and were transporting around 25-30 tonnes of coal each truck instead of the required 8 tonnes.

A top political figure is also suspected of involvement in the transaction, and he is now being probed.
