6 held in Assam for using Indian flag as a table cloth

Six individuals were arrested in Assam’s Bongaigaon district on Monday for disrespecting the Indian national flag by using the Tricolor as a dining cloth on the occasion of Eid on Friday, police said.

According to a police officer in Guwahati, six detainees from Tengnamari village disrespected the Indian national flag on Friday by placing it on the dining table of one Rejina Parvin Sultana.

Rejina and five others were detained on Sunday after a video went viral on social media. The police have opened an investigation and will take appropriate legal measures.

The family was seen feasting in the film, using the Indian flag as a tablecloth. The crime is being investigated by police.
