The All Assam NHM Para-Medical Workers Union requested that all employees employed for the National Health Mission (NHM) on a temporary basis during the COVID pandemic get a pay twice that of permanent employees.
Additionally, in a statement to the state government, Mofidul Islam, the Union’s sectary, claimed that since 2006, Assam’s approximately 22,000 contractual workers have worked without receiving any benefits in comparison to other state government employees, including the yearly salary increase.
This has resulted in the union submitting a few demands to the state government about the health of contracted workers employed by NHM.
Next to that, the Union pressed the state government to pay the pending increase due to NHM workers in 2019. Additionally, contractual workers employed by the NHM, Assam should be afforded the same privileges and benefits as contractual TET teachers employed by the department.
Additionally, the union requested that the government enforce the 7th pay commission and that employees profit from it.
