Assam Police continue to clamp down on drug trafficking in Guwahati and around the state, multiple incidences of drug seizure and arrest have come to light.
Earlier on May 25, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on social media, “Assam must be particularly cautious against drug peddlers. Since I took over as Chief Minister, I’ve been pleased with Assam Police’s increased pursuit of illegal activities: 17 cases registered; 30 arrests. Seizures: 162.39 grams of heroin; 14.964 kilograms of ganja; 1 kilogram of opium; Tablet 2374; and Rs. 2.28 lakh in cash.”
According to the most recent round of reports, the Guwahati police’s city crime section caught a drug vendor at Boro Chowk of 2 no Motghoria with 6 grams of cocaine. Ashok Kumar Das, 27, has been detained. Additionally, the cops took Rs 1,06,000 from the scene.
On the other side, Jalukbari police detained Kaushik Chandra (20) and Md. Tezauddin (28) on May 26 and recovered 19 vials of suspected brown sugar weighing 7.150 kilos. Additionally, the cops recovered four cellphones and cash totaling Rs. 2500. A case has been opened in accordance with the ADPS Act 1985.
