Assam, which currently produces 80 metric tonnes of oxygen per day compared to the necessary 70 metric tonnes, has been supplying oxygen to six northeastern states – Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram, and Manipur – Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday.
According to Sarma, the central government has allocated 100 million cubic meters of oxygen to Assam, which will be transported by a dedicated train.
The Chief Minister paid a visit to Premiere Cryogenics Limited’s oxygen plant in Saukuchi on Monday to assess the plant’s potential for increasing oxygen supply in the state.
He informed reporters that Premiere Cryogenics Ltd had replied to the state government’s request to restart the plant’s oxygen supply, which had been shut down for an extended period.
The plant will be capable of producing 14 million tonnes of oxygen per day, significantly increasing the state’s oxygen supply.
If the second unit begins operation at the facility, he added, it will significantly increase the plant’s oxygen production capability.
