A woman who tested positive for COVID-19 delivered stable twins at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh.
The National Health Mission posted this news on their official Twitter account, where they congratulated the mum, writing, “A really #POSITIVE tale. Today, with the assistance of our medical staff, a #COVID #positive mother successfully delivered two IVF twin angels at AMCH, Dibrugarh.”
On May 18, at 12 a.m., the twins’ mother was admitted to AMCH. She was positive for COVID-19 and was at a rather early point of pregnancy. She conceived through IVF (In vitro fertilization), and delivering the babies was a difficult challenge for the whole medical staff.
Keshab Mahanta, Assam’s health minister, congratulated the mother and said, “It’s incredibly heartwarming to see a mother who is Covid +ve carrying her IVF twins. I am extremely proud of the doctors and nursing staff at @AMCHDibrugarh for the good delivery.”
Despite the adversity, NHM announced that both babies are stable and screened negative.
