Doctor Assaulted After Covid-19 Patient Dies: A young doctor was reportedly beaten Tuesday at a Covid care center in Assam’s Hojai district by a crowd that included family members of a dead patient. By Wednesday morning, a total of 24 people had been detained in connection with the incident.
Dr. Seuj Kumar Senapati, who works at a Covid Care Centre in Udali, Hoja. He was assaulted and beat by a crowd on Tuesday afternoon with brooms and kitchenware.
“24 perpetrators of this brutal crime have been apprehended, and a chargesheet will be filed as soon as possible. I am personally supervising this probe and assure you that justice will be done,” Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Assam State Branch of the IMA called on all physicians in the state on Wednesday. To desist from providing outdoor patient care.

The body has asked that all suspects be arrested promptly and that a prompt trial be held. Additionally, it has requested the deployment of armed security agents in all state-run health care institutions.
“If we do not get a solid commitment from the government on our above three requests. IMA will issue a call for a boycott of all non-emergency medical services. It will include non-critical Covid responsibilities, on 3 June 2021,” the IMA state chapter wrote to CM Sarma.
