Hundreds of fish found dead in Dighalipukhuri. Hundreds of fish have been discovered dead in Dighalipukhuri, Guwahati, a Fishery Department spokesman said on Sunday. The cause is believe to be a lack of oxygen in the pond.
On Saturday, the dead fish were discover floating in the water body, and the task of recovering them has startS.
The spokesman stat that preliminary research has rule out poisoning and that environmental deterioration is believe to be the reason.
“Reduced oxygen levels in the water as a consequence of organic overload seem to be the reason for the mass fish deaths, but nothing is certain until we do a full study,” he added.
