Women from Assam Rifle Brigade have been sent to Kashmir to help male troops in fighting terrorism. Army personnel in Kashmir now have crucial assistance in carrying out security-related tasks, with female soldiers from the Assam Rifles helping the military in preserving calm in the Valley.
According to authorities, the Assam Riflewomen have been deployed in certain parts of Kashmir to assist male troops in frisking women and children at motor vehicle checkpoints.
Additionally, they claimed, they assist with house-to-house searches during a cordon and search operations.
However, these riflewomen are content with breaking misconceptions surrounding Kashmir and encouraging local girls to aspire greater and strive higher in life.
Rekha Kumari, a riflewoman from West Bengal’s Vardhman district, had served in Manipur and Nagaland before coming in the valley a month ago.
“There are concerns and worries about our visit to Kashmir, but we are here to serve the country. Additionally, there is an excessive amount of mythology surrounding Kashmir. The people here are kind, and we like our interactions with them “As Kumari said.
She said that by participating in search activities, riflewomen demonstrate the softer side of military troops to the civilian population.
“We are females and must interact with females. As a result, we begin on a shared footing. We must be compassionate in order to earn the confidence of the indigenous women… We’re here to assist them “As Kumari said.
Rupali Dhangar, a Maharashtrian riflewoman, is more into rigorous soldiering.

“We patrol the perimeter, staff the bunkers, and conduct cordon and search operations. There is no need to fear. This is a component of our responsibility “‘She says.
Both riflewomen take pride in the fact that local girls look up to them as role models.
“Numerous females aspire to be like us. It is not essential for them to become warriors; let them pursue their goals and strive higher than they previously believed possible “As Dhangar said.
Initially, the Assam Rifles women were station in the Kupwara area to combat growing drug trafficking. Army personnel was having difficulty frisking female suspects approaching regions along the Line of Control, a senior official here said.
The introduction of riflewomen has aided security forces in limiting narcotics smuggling over the Line of Control, he said.
