Cop, six others arrested in drug trafficking. The capital police’s recent assault on drug trafficking in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR). The result is the arrest of a police constable and six others within the last week.

The police team, led by Naharlagun SDPO Dekio Gumja, inspector K Yangfo, and sub-inspector S S Jha. Also recovered approximately 68.24 grams of suspected heroin from the arrested individuals. Under sections 21(b) and 27(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a case against them has been registered.

Capital Superintendent of Police Jimmy Chiram said late Tuesday at a news briefing that policeman Techi was detained on June 13. Together with Agung and Kamo on suspicion of drug trafficking.

“Subsequently, during questioning, Techi admitted to using his uniform to sell narcotics into the ICR after purchasing them from one Diggu Bhai of Banderdewa, prompting further arrests,” the SP said.

Chairman further said that the police had detained 73 individuals under the NDPS Act in the past three years and seized about 17.700 kilos of marijuana, 508.86 grams of brown sugar, 1058.75 grams of heroin, and 39 nitrosun, totaling Rs 13,73,813 crore.

Additionally, a total of Rs 2.38 lakh is seize throughout this procedure, according to SP.
