With 7,231 new infections reported in a day, the number of Covid-19 cases in India rose to 4,44,28,393, while the number of active cases fell to 64,667, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.
The death toll from the epidemic rose to 527,874 after 45 more deaths were recorded. According to figures updated at 8 am, the figure includes 10 deaths from Kerala.
Active cases account for 0.15 percent of total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.67 percent, the ministry said.
The number of active Covid-19 cases has decreased by 1,065 cases in 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate was calculated to be 2.05 percent. According to the Ministry of Health, the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2.55 percent.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease has increased to 4,38,35,852, while the case fatality rate has been recorded at 1.19 percent.
According to the Ministry, 212.39 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the National Immunization Campaign.
India’s Covid-19 count crossed the 2 million mark on August 7, 2020; 30 lakhs on August 23; 40 lakhs on 5th September and 50 lakhs on 16th September. It passed 60 lakhs on September 28; 7 million on October 11, crossed 8 million on October 29; 90 lakh on November 20 and crossed one crore on December 19.
India crossed the critical milestone of 20 lakh on May 4, Rs 30 lakh on June 23 last year and Rs 40 lakh on January 25 this year.
The 35 new deaths include eight from Maharashtra, five from Delhi and Karnataka, three from Punjab, two each from Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and one each from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Kerala, Odisha, Sikkim and West Bengal…
