From Monday, Assam will vaccinate three lakh people every day. From June 21, the Assam government has set a goal of inoculating three lakh people daily under the expanded immunization campaign, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday.
Sarma said that in light of the increased vaccination drive. Which would see three lakh individuals in the state get vaccine doses daily. District administrations should beef up the necessary infrastructure to ensure the campaign’s success.
The Chief Minister had requested that the health department create enough awareness via proper exposure during a review. Meeting with the Deputy Commissioners (DC) and District Superintendents of Police from all 34 districts through video conference.
He also emphasized the need for vaccination for all segments of society, from government workers to merchants.
According to a health official, the Center will begin offering free vaccines to everyone over the age of 18 on June 21.
Additionally, the Chief Minister requested that the health department’s responsible authority pay Rs 100 for the transportation of each paramedical staff member involved in immunization.
He also requested that the DCs provide them with enough nourishment. To carry out the expanded immunization campaign, the state will establish around 2,000 vaccination centers.
Over 53.20 lakh people have got vaccinatons in Assam’s 3.30 crore population. There are 10.55 lakh individuals who have got both Covid dosages.
The statewide review meeting was attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Samir Kumar Sinha, and National Health Mission (Assam) Director Lakshmanan S, among other authorities.
