Oil PSUs to support various Art & Handicraft projects. In conjunction with the government’s 75th-anniversary celebrations dubbed Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. Petroleum Secretary Tarun Kapoor inaugurated an initiative by oil PSUs to support various arts and crafts in the country. And also launched a Bamboo Craft project in Madhya Pradesh backed by ONGC. During a webinar organized by National Oil Company Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) on Friday.
As part of a wider plan, 75 projects will be undertaken by central state businesses under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in various areas around the nation. ONGC has initiated a program to resurrect dormant handicraft ventures and empower indigenous craftsmen. ONGC has agreed to take on 15 of the 75 projects. Madhya Pradesh’s bamboo handicrafts were introducing on 11 June 2021.
ONGC would address the difficulties confronting craftsmen and art and handicraft forms, therefore enhancing rural livelihoods in the handicrafts and handloom sectors.
So, ONGC, in collaboration with local NGOs and forums, is initially investing roughly Rs 1.3 crore in five initiatives around the nation to boost the handicraft industry.
ONGC would first assist the bamboo cottage industry, dhokra metal casting, lac culture, bhotiya wool dyeing, and Assam silk.
