Pacer Krishna recovers, to join the India team on May 23

M Prasidh Krishna, a fast bowler who is a member of India’s expanded squad for Test matches in England, has recovered from Covid-19 and will depart from Bengaluru on May 23 for Mumbai.

“He has healed from Covid-19, is currently residing in Bengaluru, and will depart for Mumbai on May 23,” a source familiar with the development told.

Krishna, who plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), was one of four KKR players to test positive for the virus during the IPL, which was delayed due to a violation of the bio-bubble, which involved four teams.

The pace bowler is expected to join fellow pacers Avesh Khan and Arzan Nagwaswalla, as well as batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran, in England as one of four standby cricketers.

Apart from Krishna, other KKR players who tested positive were Varun Chakravarthy, Sandeep Warrier, and New Zealander Tim Seifert.

All three players have recovered as well, with Seifert back to his native New Zealand.

Krishna, a right-arm pace bowler, made his international debut against England in March, taking six wickets in three matches.

India’s men’s and women’s teams are scheduled to depart for England on a charter flight from Mumbai on June 2.
