ISRO to assist development projects in NE through space technology. Northeastern states have submitted a variety of proposals to the Northeastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) in Shillong. It will be reviewing the feasibility and desirability of all such initiatives with each state individually over the following two weeks. Once chosen, all of these initiatives will very certainly be co-funded by the different states and NESAC.

The Minister said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid a visit to Shillong in January and met with the NESAC society. To take care of key initiatives were identify.

“Several significant initiatives are now underway, including mapping forest gap regions, expanding land available for horticultural development, identifying and rejuvenating wetlands and diverting floodwater, and assessing bamboo resources for livelihood requirements,” he said.

Singh said that the Home Minister would likely return to the center in July to assess the development of the projects, noting that despite the crushing effects of the Covid-19, significant progress has been achieved in executing these projects.

ISRO senior officials told the Minister that seven projects in Arunachal Pradesh are approaching completion. Which including dam building and flood mitigation, three model villages, horticulture, and the zero-level border fence. Similar initiatives in other states are likewise on track to succeed.

The NESAC is a self-governing organization under the Department of Space that offers specialized services to the northeastern area. Which includes eight states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
