Verizon is developing an Alexa-enabled smart display. Verizon Media is reportedly developing an Alexa-enabled smart display.
However, rather than saying “Alexa,” it seems that anybody purchasing the gadget will need to say “Hey, Verizon.”
According to Engadget, Amazon’s Alexa Unique Assistant initiative enables businesses to create their own version of Alexa with custom wake phrases and device-specific abilities.
The smart display was originally discovers by Protocol in Federal Communications Commission files.
The Verizon Smart Display, according to the papers, has an eight-inch 1280A-800 display, 4GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.
Additionally, there is a front-facing camera with a physical shutter. According to the source, the gadget enables calls, messages, Alexa announcements, and Verizon’s BlueJeans video conferencing service.

One intriguing twist is that, in addition to Bluetooth and WiFi connection, 4G LTE is sustains.
Verizon has previously produced smartwatches, including children’s versions, as well as tablets. It remains to see if it will be able to break into the competitive smart display industry.
