According to a tweet from Spotify on April 19, 2024, The Tortured Poets Department became the most-streamed album in a single day, propelling Taylor Swift to the title of the most-streamed artist in a single day in Spotify’s history.
As the final figures for the album’s streaming numbers are awaited, there is anticipation that the records could surpass the current milestone. With the success of The Tortured Poets Department, Taylor Swift now holds the distinction of having the top three most-streamed albums in a single day on Spotify, alongside her previous releases Midnights and 1989.
Prior to this achievement, Taylor Swift had already broken records with her album 1989, which garnered significant attention upon its release in October 2023, solidifying her status as a powerhouse in the music industry.
Originally conceptualized as a 16-track project with guest appearances from Post Malone and Florence & the Machine, Taylor Swift surprised fans by dropping an additional 15 songs just two hours after the album’s initial release, expanding the collection to a total of 31 tracks.
In an Instagram post, Taylor Swift expressed her creative process and the inspiration behind the expanded album, stating, “I had written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs.”
