In a shocking incident of road rage, the Pallavaram police have arrested two individuals, including a lorry driver and his associate, for allegedly attacking a doctor and his wife. The incident took place on the Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam Radial Road, where the doctor, identified as Meha Shyam, 33, and his wife Tharani, also a doctor, were travelling in their car. The situation escalated when their vehicle collided with a lorry, leading to a heated argument between the drivers of both vehicles.

The victims face verbal and physical abuse

During the argument, the lorry driver, M. Chandru, 33 of Ganapathipuram, Chromepet, and his associate Sathishkumar, 33, allegedly abused, attacked, and harassed the couple. The shocking incident of violence was captured on video, which quickly circulated on numerous mobile messaging platforms, drawing widespread attention.

Panic-stricken couple seek help from the police

Realizing the gravity of the situation, the couple managed to contact the police using their mobile phones. They promptly informed the authorities about the incident and sought immediate help, fearing for their safety.

Arrests made based on the victims’ complaint

The Pallavaram police swung into action upon receiving the distressed couple’s complaint. Acting swiftly, they arrested both Chandru and Sathishkumar. The accused were charged under sections 294 (b) (Uttering vulgar words), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code, and section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Woman Act. Following their arrest, the duo was remanded in judicial custody.
