Children at a ‘Helmet for Kids’ Campaign to Promote Road Safety
In a bid to advocate for road safety among children, the Apollo Shine Foundation recently launched the ‘Helmets for Kids’ campaign in schools.
The Initiative’s Inception
The campaign was inaugurated by P.K. Sekar Babu, T.N. Minister for Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments, alongside Harshad Reddy, Director of Apollo Shine Foundation, and Upendra Kinjawadekar, National President of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

Emphasizing the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a two-wheeler, the Foundation’s team visited numerous schools, distributed child helmets to students, and conducted educational sessions to raise awareness about the cause.

Minister Babu highlighted that the campaign sets an example that all riders, especially children, should follow. Mr. Reddy expressed the Foundation’s effort to unite various stakeholders, including parents, teachers, students, physicians, and the government, to promote the vital message and create a significant impact at both individual and community levels.

In a show of solidarity, the Apollo Shine Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the IAP during the event. Dr. Kinjawadekar shared insights about the Academy’s Sankalp Sampoorna Swathsya campaign, focusing on raising awareness about non-communicable diseases such as type 2 diabetes and hypertension among children.

The MoU aims to enhance awareness of lifestyle diseases and encourage healthy choices among children, as stated by Indira Jayakumar, the medical director of the Apollo Shine Foundation.
