Gujarat Dominates Tamil Nadu in Ranji Trophy
On the third day of the Ranji Trophy match between Gujarat and Tamil Nadu in Valsad, Gujarat, on Sunday, January 07, 2024, Umang Rohit Kumar’s patient innings of 89, Manan Hingrajia’s half-century of 52, and Ripal Patel’s aggressive 81 off 71 balls helped Gujarat take a commanding position against Tamil Nadu at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium.
Gujarat Sets Strong Target
Gujarat, resuming at 38 for three, managed to make 312 in their second innings, setting a target of 299 for Tamil Nadu. In reply, Tamil Nadu finished at 32 for two, losing B. Sachin and Washington Sundar.
Umang and Hingrajia’s Partnership
Umang and Hingrajia once again showcased their partnership skills, adding 158 for the fourth wicket. Umang displayed control with his compact game, while Hingrajia played a supportive role after being dropped on 15 early in the day.
Ripal’s Debut Performance
Debutant Ripal Patel showed his T20 prowess, hitting the spinners for sixes and lofting Trilok Nag for three consecutive sixes to build a challenging target for Tamil Nadu.
In the first innings, Gujarat scored 236, while Tamil Nadu scored 250. Gujarat’s bowling attack managed to remove two of Tamil Nadu’s top-order batsmen in their second innings.
