Manchester, UK – Manchester United’s star winger Jadon Sancho’s future with the club is uncertain following a public dispute with manager Erik ten Hag. The 23-year-old expressed his frustration after Ten Hag attributed his absence from recent matches to poor training performances.

Sancho, who referred to himself as a “scapegoat,” was notably absent from Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Arsenal over the weekend, which resulted in a 3-1 defeat for the team.

Having played as a substitute in the first three matches of the season, Sancho’s absence raised eyebrows, especially given Ten Hag’s explanation that he was not selected due to subpar training performances.

The situation escalated after Manchester United conceded two stoppage-time goals, leading to their 11th-place position in the Premier League standings. Ten Hag’s decision to bench Sancho was scrutinized in light of the disappointing outcome.

In response to Ten Hag’s remarks, Sancho took to social media to address the situation. He posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that are completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.”

Sancho continued, “I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!”

Expressing his commitment to the team, Sancho added, “All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and (am) grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”

Sancho’s tenure at Manchester United has been marked by inconsistent performances since his move from Borussia Dortmund for a hefty fee in 2021. With 12 goals in 82 appearances across all competitions, the young talent has faced challenges in finding his stride on the pitch.

The winger’s relationship with Ten Hag has faced ups and downs, as he began the season on a positive note but encountered a period of non-participation from late October to February. During this time, he underwent an individual winter fitness program in the Netherlands.

Sancho’s determination and resilience were showcased when he returned to play in the League Cup final victory against Newcastle. Ending the 2022/23 campaign with seven goals and three assists, Sancho’s journey at Manchester United continues to be a rollercoaster of challenges and opportunities.

As the situation unfolds, football fans and pundits alike are closely watching to see how the club and Sancho navigate this tense chapter, and whether his future with Manchester United hangs in the balance.
