iPhone 16 Pro Models: New Ultrawide Camera, Snapdragon X75 Modem, Wi-Fi 7 – Report

Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max Rumored to Feature Larger Display and Upgraded Features

The iPhone 15 series may have just hit the market, but rumors are already swirling about next year’s iPhone 16 lineup. According to a recent report, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models are expected to come with a 0.2-inch larger display compared to their iPhone 15 Pro counterparts. These new models are also rumored to pack Qualcomm’s latest cellular modem for improved 5G performance.

The report, citing tech analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities, suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models set to launch in 2024 will feature around 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display sizes, respectively. If these rumors prove to be true, it would mark a significant screen size upgrade over the current iPhone 15 models. Pu also states that these Pro models will be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon X75 cellular modem, enabling faster and more efficient 5G connectivity.

On the other hand, the regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to retain the Snapdragon X70 modem. This year’s iPhone 15 models, including the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max, all feature the Snapdragon X70 modem. Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro model is said to offer Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, while the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus may receive an upgrade to Wi-Fi 6E. Currently, the Pro models in the iPhone 15 series support Wi-Fi 6E.

In terms of camera capabilities, both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models are rumored to feature a 12-megapixel tetra-prism lens for improved zoom functionality. The Pro lineup may also include a newer ultra-wide lens, with Apple reportedly packing a new 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera in these models. This would be a significant upgrade over the iPhone 15 Pro’s 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

Performance-wise, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are expected to be powered by Apple’s A18 Pro Bionic chip, based on a 3nm process. On the other hand, the regular iPhone 16 models will likely receive a toned-down version of the A17 Pro chip. As for the regular iPhone 16, Jeff Pu notes that it will feature two rear camera sensors without optical zoom.

These speculations from Jeff Pu align with earlier reports from DSCC analyst Ross Young, who also predicted that the iPhone 16 Pro models will receive a screen size update.

It’s important to note that the iPhone 15 series was recently launched during Apple’s Wonderlust event, with the iPhone 15 Pro starting at Rs. 1,39,900 for the base 128GB storage model in India, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max starting at Rs. 1,59,900. Both models are currently available for sale in the country.
