Telangana Art Fest: A Vibrant Fusion of Arts and Music in Hyderabad

Hyderabad Celebrates Art and Music at Telangana Art Fest

Hyderabad is gearing up to celebrate the diverse world of art and music as the Telangana Art Fest beckons art and music enthusiasts. The three-day festival, to be held on the scenic Jalavihar lawns at Necklace Road from October 6 to 8, aims to connect artists, art lovers, and buyers through a blend of art kiosks and music performances. Unlike exclusive galleries or high-end art events, the Telangana Art Fest strives to make art accessible to the common people, educate them about different art forms, and ultimately build a thriving art market.

A Unique Platform for Artists and Art Lovers

The festival, conceived by Spandana Vasireddy of Giggle Mug events, will showcase the works of around 30 artists who will set up stalls to exhibit over 20 different artworks each. Ranging in size from 1×1 feet to 4×4 feet, these artworks will feature diverse themes and styles, offering something for every art enthusiast. Spandana, a self-taught artist herself, emphasizes the festival’s aim to provide visitors with a wide selection of art that caters to their varied tastes and preferences.

Spandana’s inspiration for the event came from her interactions with the local artist community. Her personal journey into the world of art began in 2018 when her family relocated from Himayathnagar to Manikonda. In an effort to ease her boredom and loneliness in the new place, her children gifted her a painting kit. Naturally drawn to painting, Spandana started creating acrylic works and eventually showcased them in group shows at the State Art Gallery and Salar Jung Museum. However, it was her encounters with young and upcoming artists that sparked a desire within her to address the challenges they face.

According to Spandana, there exists a segment of talented artists in Hyderabad who produce exceptional work but lack the necessary resources and communication skills to promote their art. As a result, they struggle to sell their artwork and support their families. With the declining sales and unsold works in the art market, these artists face numerous hardships. Spandana aims to fill this void by establishing an art market that focuses on connecting artists with potential buyers and clients.

Her target audience includes builders, architects, and interior designers involved in real estate projects, as well as individuals seeking to invest in art while renovating their homes or office spaces before the festive season. By bridging the gap between these potential buyers and talented artists, Spandana hopes to create a sustainable art market that benefits both parties.

“I understand the hard work and frustration that artists experience until they create the perfect painting. It can be disheartening when their work doesn’t sell,” Spandana remarks, reflecting on her own experiences with the artistic process. Her empathy for struggling artists further fuels her dedication to building an art market that supports and uplifts local talent.

Music Performances to Enrich the Festival Experience

In addition to the vibrant art scene, the Telangana Art Fest will also offer captivating music performances to attract a diverse crowd. On October 6, the festival will pay tribute to the late singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, featuring talents from popular talent shows like Indian Idol and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. On the following day, a singing competition will take place, with participants aged between 18 and 30 vying for the opportunity to record a music album. Finally, on October 8, an open mic event will showcase musicians playing various instruments, adding a touch of musical diversity to the festival.
