On Thursday, District Collector K. P. Karthikeyan flagged off the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) demo vehicle in Tirunelveli and Palayamkottai Assembly segments as part of the National Voters’ Day celebrations. The aim is to create awareness ahead of the upcoming Parliamentary elections in April or May. The EVM demo vehicle, equipped with a large LED screen, will visit various parts of these constituencies, educating voters on how to cast their votes using EVMs connected with Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT).

EVM Demo Vehicle Initiatives

The Corporation Commissioner Thakare Shubham Dyandeorao and Sub-Collector Arpit Jain flagged off EVM demo vehicles in other Assembly constituencies. In Thoothukudi, District Collector G. Lakshmipathi initiated the EVM demo vehicle’s journey through all six Assembly segments, including Vilaathikulam, Ottapidaaram, Kovilpatti, Thoothukudi, Srivaikundam, and Tiruchendur. The Collector also awarded prizes to winners of inter-school and inter-college National Voters’ Day competitions and honored election awareness campaign ambassadors. Elsewhere, Kanniyakumari District Collector P. N. Sridhar led a voters’ awareness rally in Nagercoil, with the participation of NCC cadets and ex-servicemen.

Additional Initiatives

Aside from the rally, the Collector also flagged off the EVM demo vehicle and handed over Electors’ Photo Identity Cards to new voters, emphasizing the importance of their participation in the electoral process. The District Revenue Officer S. Ajay Srinivasan was also present for these events.
