Indian AI firm Sarvam is set to make waves by integrating its newly launched AI models into everyday devices like Nokia feature phones, vehicles, and its own smart glasses. This move aims to enhance accessibility and functionality through cutting-edge technology.

During the India AI Impact Summit taking place in New Delhi, Sarvam, which boasts backing from notable investors including Lightspeed, PeakXV, and Khosla Ventures, unveiled its plans to deploy edge models. These models are designed to occupy only a few megabytes of space, making them compatible with most existing phone processors and operable offline.
A Partnership with HMD: AI Comes to Nokia
In an exciting collaboration with HMD Global, Sarvam is set to launch a conversational AI assistant specifically for Nokia and HMD devices. A video demonstration showcased a feature phone equipped with a dedicated AI button, allowing users to converse with an AI assistant in their local language for guidance on accessing government services or local markets. However, it’s yet to be confirmed if all AI features will function without internet connectivity.
Edge AI’s Aspirations for Everyday Devices
Tushar Goswamy, head of Edge AI at Sarvam, stressed the company’s goal of embedding intelligence into everyday devices, including phones, laptops, and vehicles. “Through edge AI, we want to bring intelligence to every phone, laptop, car, and even a new generation of devices,” he emphasized during his presentation.
Collaborations with Tech Giants
Sarvam has also confirmed its partnership with Bosch, the German engineering powerhouse, to integrate AI assistants into automobiles, although specifics remain under wraps.
Introducing the Sarvam Kaze Smart Glasses
In addition to its software ambitions, Sarvam has introduced a pair of AI smart glasses called Sarvam Kaze, designed and manufactured in India. Co-founder Pratyush Kumar described the glasses as a “builders’ device,” ready for consumer use by May. This innovative gadget promises to merge augmented reality with practical usability, paving the way for a new era of technology.
