Exciting News: Nothing Unveils First Store in India
Nothing, the innovative hardware brand supported by Tiger Global, is making waves by opening its very first retail store in India, which happens to be its largest market. Located in the vibrant city of Bengaluru, this new store is strategically placed where a significant portion of Nothing’s Indian user base resides.
A Unique Shopping Experience Awaits
This two-story retail space aims to deliver more than just a shopping experience. Customers will have the opportunity to explore Nothing’s range of products and even engage in the customization of select items. The store is designed to reflect the essence of the brand, blending playful elements with informative displays.
“We wanted to create a fun space,” stated Carl Pei, co-founder and CEO of Nothing. “It is inspired by all aspects of our brand. For example, we’ll showcase how products are made, from the production line to the testing machines that ensure quality through various tests, like USB port functionality and water resistance. We wanted to encapsulate that entire world into one space.”
What’s in Store?
The Bengaluru store will not only feature products from the main Nothing brand but also showcase its budget-friendly line, CMF, which was launched last year. CMF operates out of India, in partnership with local ODM, Optiemus, making it a unique player in the budget segment.
Pei emphasized the distinctions between the two brands, noting, “Nothing caters to a more niche market with higher price points, while CMF targets the mass market. However, it’s not just a rebranding of off-the-shelf products; these are well-crafted items that reflect our commitment to quality.”
Nothing’s Growing Influence in India
India has proven to be Nothing’s most significant market, capturing over 2% market share in the smartphone industry, as reported by analyst firm IDC. Last year, Nothing was recognized as the fastest-growing brand in the country for Q2 2025, reflecting an impressive 85% increase in shipments year-over-year.
The Competitive Retail Landscape
The Indian retail scene is becoming increasingly competitive as other tech giants also establish their presence. Apple, for instance, is preparing to open its sixth store in India this month, located in Borivali, Mumbai. This trend highlights the growing demand for innovative retail experiences in India.
Future Expansion Plans
This new location marks the first Nothing store outside of London, the brand’s base. Looking ahead, the company has plans to launch two additional stores in Tokyo and New York, although specific timelines for these openings have yet to be announced.
Funding and Future Prospects
In terms of financial backing, Nothing recently raised $200 million in a Series C funding round, reaching a valuation of $1.3 billion. This funding was led by Tiger Global and included notable investors such as GV, Highland Europe, EQT, Latitude, I2BF, and Tapestry. To date, Nothing has raised a total of $450 million in funding.
