New Allegations: Woman Joins Lawsuit Against Elon Musk’s xAI Over Child Exploitation Claims

A woman known as Jane Doe 4 has recently added her voice to a lawsuit initiated by three Tennessee teenagers against Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI. The lawsuit raises serious concerns about the company’s chatbot, Grok, and its alleged involvement in the creation of child sexual abuse materials.

As reported by The Washington Post, Jane Doe 4 claims that her stepfather manipulated a photo of her taken at the young age of 11 using Grok. This manipulation purportedly led to the creation of over 7,000 explicit images. Disturbingly, her stepfather was found dead two days after authorities discovered the images during a law enforcement raid.

In her own words, she expressed concern about the rapid proliferation of such tools: “Limitless access to these tools is spreading so quickly. It is taking everyday life and turning it into child sexual abuse.”

The teenagers who filed the original lawsuit are accusing xAI, a subsidiary of SpaceX, of negligence. They argue that the company failed to implement basic safeguards to prevent Grok from generating explicit images of real individuals, particularly minors. Earlier this year, images created by Grok flooded platforms, highlighting a significant oversight in content moderation.

Now, as the lawsuit seeks class action status, questions arise about the responsibility of tech companies in safeguarding against such misuse of AI technology. Axom Live will continue to monitor the situation as it develops.

TechCrunch has reached out to xAI for a statement regarding these serious allegations but has not yet received a response.
